Volunteer Day

January 19, 2013 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Help us get started on our 2013 planting at Waikoloa Dry Forest! On Saturday January 19th we will be planting native trees and shrubs in a brand new site. This year we have big plans to plant four acres with over 1200 plants! We are very excited to open up new weed free zones and re-plant our native dry forest species. On the 19th we will be planting ‘ohe makai, wiliwili, ‘a ‘ali‘i, ‘akia and more.

We will meet at the corner of Waikoloa Road and Quarry Road in Waikoloa Village at 8:00 am and work until about noon, drinks and snacks will be provided. Adults and keiki over age 9 are welcome to attend. Please wear boots and long pants, bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Hope to see you there! RSVP to jen@waikoloadryforest.org

I grow alot of natives I’d hope to make the plant day but if not I have a few wiliwili and uhiuhi I’ve grown from seed in “rootmaker” containers that could be interesting to plant and see if there is a benifit.I’ve found some good success in waimea and kawaihae.
If anyone is interested in a small trial of some plants let me know. thanks richard
