Native Plant Conservation

The native flora of the lowland dry forest is incredibly resilient and unique with many species occurring nowhere else in the world. Unfortunately, many of our beloved plants are threatened due to habitat loss, invasive species, wildfire, and generations of poor land stewardship. The Waikōloa Dry Forest Preserve has become an important sanctuary and habitat for our native plants. Today, you can find dozens of natives thriving in the preserve!
